Friend and fellow Madrid writer Sue Burke recently translated a great poem about travel by the early twentieth century poet Antonio Machado. For more about the poet, see her blog here. Sue is about to embark on the enormous task of translating a medieval Spanish novel. More about that when she gets her first chapter up.
Traveler, your footsteps
are the road, nothing more;
traveler, there is no road,
you make the road by walking.
By walking you make the road,
and when you look back
you see the path that
you'll never walk again.
Traveler, there is no road,
only wakes in the sea.
